Custom Rigs for Custom Gigs
Every project is unique. Here at Picture Perfect, we customize our setups to meet the needs of the project we encounter. From the lens and camera to the mounts and sliders, each build is unique. We have our go-to builds that suit our everyday needs, but what truly sets Picture Perfect apart from the rest, is our ability to adapt to every client and project.
Lately, Picture Perfect has been in the kitchen cooking up some delicious food with some of the best in fine dining. Like every good foodie, we like to get really close to the plate and frame up something truly drool worthy. Luckily, we have our very own in house foodie behind the camera, and Ray does not disappoint. With a little ingenuity, Ray created this handy dandy fork set up, for a first person plate experience. As you see here, we have a for mounted to a Macro lens on our big Red digital with the Atomos monitor.
The audience gets to follow the fork on its very own journey, harboring the “Good Eats” straight from the plate. Do we have you drooling yet? Just you wait.
Next up is a setup for a pretty revolutionary transition which our team dubbed the “Orbital shot”. This is going to be one of those really satisfying “before and after” moments in motion. Ray took a moment to walk us through the process of setting up the shot in this little video.

Ray is setting the distance from the subject to the lens to maintain consistency and provide them with a remarkable transition effect in the editing process. With expert knowledge, Ray fine tuned the track as he measured, guaranteeing that the movement would create the desired effect.
This next #customrig was designed for our current food show, “Good Eats”. We were looking for a way to get big moves around the plate to feature every delicious angle all in one take. The team dreamed up this #setup and Ray was kind enough to break it down for us in this little video. (watch the reel)
What you see here is the Red Komodo atop the DJI Ronin RS3 mounted to a Trost slider with dual axis capabilities and a live feed to an Atomos monitor. The Ronin is controlled with a wireless hand held remote, allowing Ray to slide left and right, push in as his heart desires, all while managing the angle of the mounted camera and making adjustments along the way. This setup has some seriously cool applications with food, product, and really anything you can dream up. We can’t wait to show you the results, as soon as we stop drooling over the delicious food we get to frame up for this epic project series.
Picture Perfect is excellent at building custom rigs, but the customization does not stop there. Throughout 2020, our team had to learn to adapt to ever changing situations, and our clients went from being on set, to being on screen. This meant we needed to find solutions for allowing our clients to see every aspect of production and be involved in the decision making process in real time. Willie and Rodrigo put their heads together and developed our very own system for managing our clients' online experience.
With a series of behind the scenes mini viewing cameras setup around set, we stream the feed through Remote virtual monitoring station and relay it through our Zoom meeting space. Our clients are able to speak directly with a team member giving live updates, and seeing every aspect of the projects development in real time. This build out was a game changer for us, one that opens up the possibilities for future projects world-wide. We are now able to accommodate our clients from anywhere in the world. Our team dreamed up this device to run live feed of on set activity and our current shot straight to the client and producers personal computers. We have perfected the system to allow maximum flexibility with no sacrifice to ongoing input throughout the process.
Customization is the key to our adaptability, and the Picture Perfect team is wrought with professional innovators. From our conception to execution, PPPNE is ready to make every project as unique as the subject, and sets a standard that is par none in our field.
